How we can help you

CONSULTANCY SUPPORT
Supporting quality dialogue within communities and between statutory services and communities – taking into account conditions of marginality, and the impact of trauma.

Organisation and System Change Management

We have experience of conducting research/analysis into the capacity of teams/organisations/systems to support equality and inclusion.

Stakeholder Engagement/Community Research

Our preferred approach is to work alongside people with lived experiences. We recognise that services seldom have the answers for people. Rather people and communities are usually best placed to provide answers and necessary support. An approach that respects and values people is not an add on. We see this as integral to the change needed.

Recent examples of our work
Wandsworth “Day Opportunities’ Needs Assessment of black, Asian and minority ethnic vulnerable and older people and their carers in Wandsworth (2022-23). We were commissioned to deliver a piece of community-led research into BAME people’s experiences of day services. We make a principle of paying local people for their time and expertise.

Wandsworth/Richmond: Improving access and participation in Substance Misuse Services by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people in Wandsworth and Richmond. (2023) We partnered with a culturally sensitive community-led addiction recovery service BAC-IN to support community-led research to aid understanding of why there is low uptake of drug & alcohol services by BAME people in Wandsworth/Richmond.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
Public and VCS workers and community members becoming aware of the need that underlies the call to action.

MAKING AN IMPACT
Understanding the imperatives of different actors within the system, and communicating in ways that can be heard.

Workers across public and voluntary sectors are differently motivated and successful outcomes depend upon communicating across such difference. We can help commissioners to ‘commission for relationship’, and likewise we can help those working in highly relational ways to develop business cases, conduct evaluations and impact reports, and develop trials of new interventions, in ways likely to engage with the imperatives of NHS, local and national government.

Recent examples of our work
Ealing ‘Help Through Crisis Evaluation (2022), John was commissioned to evaluate Ealing’s pioneering housing & general crisis support service. I used the evaluation as an opportunity to have conversations with key stakeholders in Ealing Council and wider systems around better joining up of aligned interventions.

Barking and Dagenham CVS, John Smith House consortium. (2022-23 various). John provides support with bid writing and Impact reporting to the local consortium made up of 7 voluntary sector organisations.

SUPPORTING LEADERSHIP
Integrating good self awareness alongside awareness of the needs of the system, supporting strong presence, and leadership.

Professional Supervision

We offer professional supervision to people in leadership positions who are negotiating their own responses to equalities issues. We wish to support the discomfort of exploring our own learned responses to difference and to privilege/oppression

Recovery and Life Coaching

We offer one on one support to individuals to support growth and development. We have experience of working with people working with a range of challenges including recovering from substance/alcohol abuse.

Recent examples of our work
Sutton Carers’ Centre (2023), we took interim management positions, supporting the Carers Centre to take on a bigger role around hospital discharge, and helping staff manage conflicting pulls between overwhelming need and their own welfare.

Peterborough Council of Voluntary Services (2021), with funding from Relational Change we ran gestalt-based support groups for civil society leaders in Peterborough, helping them voice challenges and find support in the post-lockdown period.
